The Client emails The Virtual Word.com and attaches the document to be edited, preferably in Word. Sometimes this attachment is a single file or it may be several files (particularly if the manuscript is a dissertation or thesis, organized by chapter). The editing feature of Word allows the Client to see every suggested change, red lined in the document. In addition to the suggested changes that are red lined, green highlights are used for editorial notes, comments, and questions. The green highlights allow the Client to distinguish clearly between notes from the editor to him or her and the text itself. For a clean copy the Client can simply toggle off the red line highlights and delete the green highlights so that the client can always have edited versions and clean versions of the document.
It is recommended that receipt of all email correspondence and attachments be acknowledged, both by The Virtual Word.com and by the Client. This is reassuring to both parties and minimizes delays.
